Product Rule
A product is the word we use to describe the result when two (or more) things are multiplied together. As such, the product rule for differentiation is a good choice for finding the derivative of a function that is composed of two (or more) elements being multiplied together.
We can learn a 'rhyme' or saying, to help with remembering the way the rule works. Often this is easier then remembering the abstract symbols within the rule, as the saying will tell you what to put where.
The saying for the product rule is: the first times the deriivative of the second, plus the second times the derivative of the first.
